Doctrinal Statement

What we believe

Our Foundation in Faith

Faith is not a blind leap into the dark, but a whole-hearted trust in the reliable God who has revealed Himself and His will in His Word. Faith is not contrary to reason, but transcends it. Faith is not based on human wisdom, but on divine revelation. Faith is not a subjective feeling, but an objective response to God’s Word.

Article 1

God is a Person.  He has revealed Himself as a trinity in unity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three Persons but one God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Corinthians 8:6)

Article 2

The Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, is a Divine revelation, the original autographs of which were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and which is inerrant.  It is the only authoritative guide for faith and practice.

(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

Article 3

Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, He is Himself God.  He took upon Himself our nature, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He is the only begotten Son of God, fully God and fully man, possessed of both deity and humanity in one Person.  He died upon the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of the world. An individual receives salvation by faith in Christ alone and as the free gift of God’s grace.  Christ arose from the dead in the same body in which He was crucified.  He ascended bodily into heaven where He is now seated at God’s right hand, interceding for us as our Great High Priest. Christ will come again to earth.  He will come, first, for his own by way of the rapture, and He will return subsequently with His own to personally and visibly set up His millennial kingdom on earth, and to fulfill His promises to Israel.  He will also judge the living and the dead.

(Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2: 5-8; Matthew 1:18-25; I Peter 2:24-25; Luke 24; Hebrews 4:14-16; Acts 1: 7-11; I 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelations 11: 15-17; 20: 4-6, 11-15).

Article 4

Man was created in the image of God.  As a result of his haven fallen into sin, he is lost.  This is true of all mankind.  All need to be born again.  Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ who bore our sins in His own body on the cross.  The retribution of the unrighteous and the unbelieving, and the reward of the righteous and believing, are everlasting.

(Genesis 1: 26-27; Romans 3: 10-23; John 3:3; Acts 133:38-39; 4:2; John 3:16; Matthew 25:46; 2 Corinthians  5: 1; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)

Article 5

The Church is a company of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into the mystical body of Christ.  It was injected into history on the Day of Pentecost and will be ejected out of history at the Rapture, preceding the seven-year Tribulation period.
